Ronald C. Childs

FOUNDING PARTNER OF HORNE & CHILDS

Ron received a B.S. degree in political science in 1977 and a J.D. degree in 1980 from the University of Bridgeport.  He was admitted to the New York Bar and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1982.  Prior to joining Horne & Childs in 1986, Ron was an associate at Eaton & VanWinkle in New York City. During his 6 ½ years at Eaton & VanWinkle, Ron represented large domestic and foreign banks, handled major corporate and real estate transactions and real estate litigation.

Ron has represented individuals, companies, and various lenders on commercial and residential real estate transactions for over 40 years. He currently represents HSBC Bank USA, N.A., M&T Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America and others.  

Ron is also a frequent lecturer on affordable housing for Housing Action Council, Community Housing Innovations, and Westchester Residential Opportunities.

Ron is a long time Westchester resident with 40 years of experience in the New York Real Estate market. When not working on real estate transactions, Ron can be found walking his rescue dog or hopelessly watching his beloved New York Mets.

Brett Childs

PARTNER OF HORNE & CHILDS

Mr. Childs received a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011 and a J.D. degree in 2014 from St. John’s University School of Law. Prior to joining Horne & Childs, Brett was an associate at Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever, LLP. During his 7 years at Kurzman Eisenberg, Brett’s practice focused on transactional real estate work including the acquisition and disposition of a variety of commercial and residential properties, leasing, development, and financing of commercial and multifamily housing. In addition, Brett’s work experience includes the handling of due diligence in connection with significant real estate acquisitions, as well as the representation of cooperative apartment corporations and condominium associations in the New York Metropolitan area.

Mr. Childs currently represents clients in all areas of residential and commercial real estate, as well as representing various lenders in bank transactions. Outside of the office, Brett is an avid hiker and runner.
